I am a Stoic who lives by the Philosophy every day. In January 2020, I was diagnosed with a treatable but incurable blood cancer. After a grueling year, I’m now in remission, living fully and striving to be my best, even when things get tough—thanks to ongoing chemo.
This cancer is chronic and will return one day—maybe tomorrow, maybe in years, or perhaps never. Statistically, I have a 30% chance of making it to 2030. Stoicism helps me stack the odds in my favor.
Inspired by Epictetus, a Roman slave who endured unimaginable hardships and taught the essence of living well, and Marcus Aurelius, a Roman Emperor who maintained sanity under absolute power, I find Stoicism's teachings invaluable.
Professionally, I lead complex projects from conception to completion, guiding teams to successful outcomes. If Stoicism worked for a slave and an emperor, it can work for us 21st-century dwellers navigating life's challenges.
This workbook introduces you to the Stoic life by teaching and practicing essential skills over 23 days. It’s flexible—you don’t have to complete it consecutively. At the end, keep what resonates and discard what doesn’t. The goal is to develop willpower, achieve a sense of accomplishment, and clear mental space.
You’ll explore a non-dogmatic worldview that promotes an anxiety-free, balanced life. Expect practical insights for finding contentment and peace amidst life’s challenges. Remember, Stoicism isn’t a magic solution; it’s a way of living that prepares you for life’s storms, ensuring you’re on a steady ship ready for rogue waves.
